A mysterious force zaps Dean back to medieval Britain, far away from his hunter life and his comrades. With Castiel unresponsive to his calls, Dean resigns himself to a normal life in Ancient Britain. But no one ever leaves the hunter life, and he soon finds himself once more at risk with his new job as Royal Guard. As protector of the princess Rhoslyn he notices she has a rather dubious connection with the elusive Aoife, the kingdom's head huntress. How will Dean fare with hunters being in the spotlight? Celebrated, even?
Meanwhile, back home Sam and I are trying everything we can to get Dean back. Oh I'm Alex, by the way. Close friend of Winchesters Junior. Senior...not so much, but that's not important. Anyway, I run the Good Intentions motel & bar. You could say I'm like an open-minded Harvelle's Roadhouse. Don't get me wrong, I love the gals, but they're so exclusive. S'long as it don't try to kill me, I don't mind serving anything or anyone.
So like I was saying, we're tryin' all sorts to get Dean back. Will it work? Who knows. I know what it will be, though. A helluva challenge.

For chronology, Alex meets the Winchesters around the startish of Season 4. Also, this is assuming that season four was set in 2008 because I can't find anywhere that says when it was actually set. Sorry if I get some stuff wrong, been a while since I've watched that far back.

She stood before me with hair darker than it had been, eyes slightly clouded, almost distant. She smiled though. She always smiled. But there was something different. I could see it in the way she held herself. I could feel it around her like an aura. "Si...?" My voice died off, unbelieving that she was here, in front of me. "Been a while, huh, Dean-O?" She asked. I stride forward, all coherent thoughts dying as I quickly pulled her into my arms. She tensed for a moment, seeming taken aback as I hugged her close to me. Hesitantly, her arms snaked around my shoulders. I brought a hand up to cup the back of her head, shutting my eyes and taking a deep breath. Lavender and coconut....and whiskey? "I've missed you so much." I whispered. Saige pulled back then, shaking me off as if she didn't believe me. Then the door creaked open and a guy walked in. He was around my height, maybe an inch or two shorter. He had blond hair and dark eyes. "What are you doing here?" Saige asked, looking over at him. "Here to pick you up." He shrugged, a smirk forming on his face as he looked at me and placed an arm around her shoulder. "Nice to meet you. I'm Thomas." ____ One year after Sam sacrificed himself to stop the apocalypse, a year and a half after Saige died, and suddenly the two reappear, flipping Dean's world upside down and tilting it on its axis. He's pulled back into the hunting world now, unable to tell if he really wants to or not. Saige has had a horrible year. Her resurrection did not go as planned. -Dean's POV- I've been having the same dream for the past few weeks now. Always the same girl in trouble. Screaming for me to help her before it's too late. I run and run as fast as I can but I can never reach her. She is so beautiful though. Long black and shiny hair, fair skin, and stunning chocolate brown eyes. It's crazy how I could see all her features up close but yet still be so far away. During a dangerous case with Sam and Dean something goes wrong and Castiel goes missing, this isn't like the other times Cas has disappeared, this is different, it's strange even for Cas. With Castiel gone Dean doesn't eat or sleep he just drinks and prays wondering if Cas can hear him. Day and night he checks the newspapers and police reports from every city, and county in the US for any sign of the trench coat angel. With no leads things become even more bleaker. Dean throws himself down a hole, and Sam is becoming increasingly worried about about Dean so he seeks out help from from another angel to see if they know anything about the whereabouts of Castiel. Castiel is lost he doesn't know where he is or who he is. He just goes where his feet take him. He never eats or sleeps but he doesn't he have to, he doesn't know why he doesn't eat and it doesn't bother him much cause it would just slow him down. He remembers nothing about Sam or Dean or even himself for that matter, but something is itching at the wall in the back of his head trying to break through, it wants to get out but can't. He gets fragments of things every so often but they are of pain and torture and a redhead he doesn't know the name of. One day a pleasant memory comes through the cracks in his wall he can't place where it came from. The only thing he knows is he needs to find the man with the stunning green eyes.
