War is breaking out and no one can stop it. Pierce has become a hybrid and now he has turned Adaline into one so he could save her but they are like the two halves of a whole. They have been running to stay alive, but they cannot run anywhere else now that Claudius, the ruthless vampire general, knows their whereabouts. Will Pierce get the supposed chosen 9 to fulfill the prophecy and stop the war or will he choose to go against the tide and make his own destiny to make the war disappear and guide everyone out of death and destruction?
Adaline has new found abilities that she cannot control yet. She has visions of the future that she does not tell anyone and she witnesses each gruesome vision as it comes to reality. She believes she's going insane but will she realize the gift she has acquired or be lost in the doubt she has come to have from the misunderstanding.
There is a new evil that is forming in the shadows. He has been watching the brink of war for far to long now he wants in.
