After the inevitable destruction of Earth, a few million were selected -- based on their skills and their benefit to society -- and jettisoned off into deep space in search of a suitable place to live... The ship travels through a wormhole, sending them to an alternate universe, where they stumble upon the planet Sehrin. Life soon commences, and a community is built. Something peculiar about Sehrin is its sun; it provides warmth and light, but instead of causing skin cancer to appear from overexposure, it instead causes mutations to appear. This caused the community to be separated into two main districts: "The Hills" (where the wealthy class lives), which exists underground to avoid overexposure, and "The Ghetto," where people must struggle to survive unless subjecting themselves to slavery below ground. Ivy Krantz, now a young woman -- having boarded the spacecraft at the age of 6, when her father made her to take his place -- is a cyborg. She struggles
