The group has been separated after an attack from the Governor, which left the prison unsafe and crowded with walkers. They've lost people, but since the attack has the group torn apart in a struggle to get to safety, no one is sure who made it out.
Phoebe and Daryl, as well as Beth, find themselves deep in the woods as they keep pushing forward, searching for their fellow group members as well as a safe hideaway.
Can the two of them find peace with one another again, even with their world now shrouded in darkness? What lies ahead of them is yet to be seen, and it'll take more than just love to bring everyone back.

Daryl Dixon is completely on his own. After the Saviors burn down Alexandria, he thinks that he is the only survivor. Living without the group that he has come to love, has left him as nothing more than a shell of the man he used to be. One day after a brutal fight, he stumbles upon a run-down shack in the woods. As he lay dying on the dirty floor, his life is saved by a complete stranger. These two loners find that living life together is so much better than doing it alone. I haven't written a story in the first person since Broken. It's not as easy as it sounds, but I enjoyed the challenge. This story has taken me months to write and I finished it just days after the Season 8 midseason finale. Any similarities to that episode are pure coincidence. I wrote the chapter (You'll know which one) months before Season8 even started. For anyone that is newly following me or reading my books, I write differently than most.
