There are necklaces given to each and every child at birth. Everyone of them an unique shape. Originally they're created together and then split in half. One part is given to you, the other, to your soulmate. 

It's something you take considerable care of, because throughout your life, each half of the necklace will get warmer as you become closer in distance to your mystery partner. You can meet them at anytime. Anywhere. Especially at the legal age of seventeen. If you haven't come across them by then, you are allowed to go on The Quest. That journey to search for your partner is also one of self discovery. A beautiful way to find yourself and your fated concluded with both of you ending up together.

It's perfect really. All of this made so that people could be spared the pain and heartbreak of being played with by those who don't take love as seriously as you would. There's a catch to these "fate" devices though.

I've heard that some people can't feel their mate and have gone through life without ever finding them. Maybe they weren't born yet? Or maybe they lost their necklace? Or worse, they may have even died? I'm not sure, but it's scary think about negatives like that. I just hope nothing like that happens to them-- my soulmate. 

But, I'm still searching... still wandering... with a cold, cold necklace. One, that has never become warm.
