Elusive and careful 17 year- old, Delilah Little Star, lives her life quietly on the Quileute reservation.  Suffering from severe cystic fibrosis she is obligated to carry an oxygen tank wherever she goes. She keeps only a few close to her while everyone else is kept at a comfortable distance. Until one young Quileute at first glance imprints on her, Embry Call. She avoids him at all costs, unwillingly to try love again as her life will be cut short.
