Year of Sorrow is a collection of over 70 poetry written by me. The inspiration for the name is taken from the term Aam ul Huzn, the year of 619 CE when the Prophet Muhammad lost two of the most important people in his life. Aam ul Huzn translates to Year of Sorrow or grief and signifies the peak of his hardships as a prophet. The poetry itself is on very different topics. The poems included mostly are identified by dates. These are the exact dates of when they were written. Only a few of them have names. Of the ones that have names a few also have indications of when they were written for e.g. Shore and The Last Friday of September. As a writer I don't care much for any sort of rules other than what I write should be a worthwhile read so I can't give you any detailed explanation on the style of the poetry. It can mostly be sorted into either free style or poetic prose. The theme as the name suggests is sorrow. The poems in Year of Sorrow aren't all sad, even though having written them I feel they all do come from a very dark place, the underlying idea is hope and honesty. Some of the poems in Year of Sorrow include references to the work of other people. These are mainly phrases used to describe feelings that were coined or better said by other writers. For e.g. the 'the bell jar' has been used as a concept in 22.4.15 referring to the Sylvia Plath book. All of the poems are written by me. They are all very personal but not all of them are written about me. Some of them have been inspired by other people that are close to me. The collection includes a poem that itself is called Year of Sorrow. The oldest poem in this collection is The Last Friday of September. Evaporate has been published before in TheNews Us Weekly Magazine.

It's funny, how people always ask how you are doing, then are surprised when we are not. Why is that? Why do we always have to be okay? I have no plan for what to write so we will see what happens. I hope you enjoy them. Everything here is mine unless stated otherwise. Sorry it's so bad.
