Space Samurai
Classic space opera. I am revisiting an old idea I had. ~Tight ensemble of characters amid a hostile environment. In an advanced timeline roughly 1000 years into the future. Crit, an unreliable citizen in the system stirs trouble against a new regime, taking hold over the galaxy's freedom. I am still learning the ways of literature, I believe I have a ton of stories that'll either leave a laugh or tear. Please be patient while I'm re-educating myself.
My Glide On Death
The year was 2098. I was a spacecraft and jet pilot during an era of relative peace. No robotic apocalypses, no zombie outbreaks, no meteor showers-nothing of the sort. Humanity had even established a presence on Mars. Yet, beneath this calm, a sinister force was thriving on the Red Planet. Whispers of a terrorist organization began circulating, hidden within the colonies. Now, they have completely seized Mars for their own dark motives. This group, The Mars Philanthropics (MP), had a name steeped in irony. They claimed to be "lovers of mankind," but in reality, they were far from benevolent. Their so-called charitable mission concealed a darker agenda. I wasn't a member of the military. Instead, I led my own organization-TAF (Terrorist Annihilator Force). Though small in size, we boasted the most seasoned and capable operatives. When the government realized the extent of MP's influence, they turned to us for help. This wasn't just another mission-it was a call to action against the most pervasive terrorist group in history. I'm regarded as the best spacecraft pilot, but this mission will challenge everything I've ever known. But now I face a choice more difficult than any before: let my friends-who are like a family for me-die or kill a family member who is nothing more than a stranger to me. Will I complete the mission? Or will the shadows consume us all? Only time-and fate-will reveal the answers. (Updated once in a week atleast)

[COMPLETED] "Love can be cruel," he mutters. "I thought it would be the reason I would propose, but it's not. Love never wins, does it?" Cruel. Devious. Twisted love. Love can play games, and we just happen to be the pawns. We play our moves strategically like a game of chess, until it comes to this moment. We can let the world separate us, stop us, pull us apart. We can let this old love between us fray at the edges. If love is a game, then Cato and I are destined to lose. "You're right," I whisper. "But love still exists. Even for a moment." His knuckles brush against my waist, before he decides to pull me flush against his chest. We're close, and burning, and his breath feels like electricity on my skin. In his green eyes, I see remnants of the heavens, the northern auroras flashing illuminating inside of them. He holds a new world inside of him, and I long to be the first to discover it. Cato's nose brushes up against mine, the space between our mouths fading like stardust. "Even for a moment," he murmurs my words against me. At once, our tensions release. ─── ·𖥸· ─── One half of her heart belongs to the man from the stars. The other belongs to the man of smoke and ash. Maureen Harradan lives at the bottom tiers of society. Scorned by anyone above her, she finds her fate entwining with Cato Leveque, a wealthy astronaut returning to Earth with new discoveries and secrets. When rumours spread of Cato's uncertain scientific plans, Maureen finds herself working alongside Thomas Smyth, who runs one of the most powerful criminal operations in the city. She must choose which man to believe, and put her entire reputation on the line while running from an unwanted past. Will Maureen's heart choose to follow the man of the stars? What if I can't save the world?
STATUS: COMPLETED. Their worlds have been shattered by evils they weren't able to stop. Their powers, a reminder to all that they have lost. But when the fate of the world hangs in the balance once again these four heroines receive a second chance to become the heroes that they were destined to be all along. Can they come together in time to stop a futuristic threat or will the villain prove to be too powerful all over again? EXCERPT --------------------------------------------------------------- "You think she'll take the bait?" I asked "I have no idea," she admitted. Kadima opened up the portal and we stepped through. It was the only place she could be sure would have no civilians around. The office was stripped and abandoned. It was an old, basic, nondescript building that was set for demolition. It was dark and dusty. "How long until you think they come, if they come." "I don't think it will be long before they realise. I'm sure she must have some way of knowing when the timeline changes." "Suppose the timeline hasn't changed and this was apart of the plan all along," a voice said in the darkness. "What if something as small as this doesn't change the outcome of this timeline," Mistress Mind snickered as she emerged from behind the wall. Her visor glowed in the darkness. She leaned against the wall. "Did you think something this small would be able to stop us." "We had hoped," I fired up my pendent.

As the Consortium rips the memories out of the bodies of its citizens deemed long past their usefulness, a certain individual awakens after a memory wipe with a score to settle. Quickly joining the Sol Fracture, a resistance continuing to fight against the tyrannical corporation spread throughout occupied space, he realizes very quickly the toll of the war he shouldn't be able to remember.

"Okay I'll give you three seconds then I'll shoot if you don't start talking." "Fine, fine, fine, shit, calm down, would ya? Jeez." Kayn shakes his head and walks back to the couch. He throws himself down and relaxes while his legs are resting on the coffee table. "You humans are so grumpy," Kayn complains. "Are you human?" I ask. "So many questions, I don't even get a chance at answering to them. On top of that, you're stressing me out with that revolver. I can't handle this situation, Gianna." I walk closer to him, a little baffled by his calm, joyful, teasing, attitude. "I'll put it down," I start and sit down on the floor. "But if you don't talk, I won't think twice on shooting this time." I'm rewarded with a smile. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gianna's life is starting to go back to normal after the tragic passing of her mother. Well, as ordinary as it gets for someone who's spent her life behind the gates of a classified facility. Gianna isn't fond of her father's experiments but she doesn't know how to stop him. Mr. Clermont is a persuasive man. This is until the enchanting man called Kayn shows up at the facility, claiming he's from the near galaxy called Andromeda. Kayn starts to share one too many secrets about the death of Gianna's mother. To then give her a proposition, a favor for a favor, that might change the world we live in forever. Even the universe.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258!
