Rosa lives and works at the Halbard Hotel on the beautiful cliffs of Sussex, England. To the guests she is a beautiful, hardworking maid but Rosa is a prisoner.

Taking care of her elderly grandmother and never allowed to leave by the Hotel's tyrannical owner. Ivan Halbard causes Rosa to live her life in fear.

Edward is a young, Middle Class businessman and regular visitor to the Halbard. His visits to the hotel however are not for business but for the only purpose of one day winning the young maid's heart and releasing her from her life of imprisonment.
