Half of humanity is dead. The Justice League is gone. Atlantis has completely sank into obscurity. Wonder Woman has retreated to Themyscira with a broken mind, believing the mass genocide of hundreds of lives was the will of the Gods, enacted to protect the Amazonians. She is determined to finish the horrible act that began twenty years earlier, and the last remnants of the human race are too scattered and weak to fight back. Only one man stands in her way. Superman...or the man who was once him. But he's a shattered man. His memory is fragmented as a result of a coma, leaving him with no recollection of the event that destroyed the modern world, only the idea that it was his fault for not stopping it. Living in a self-imposed exile in his Fortress, the Last Son of Krypton is brought back to action by the pleas of an old friend, Bruce Wayne, who is forming a final alliance of men and metahumans to combat the Themysciran army. Returned to the world, but not as the savior he expected, Kal-El must learn to adjust to the post-apocalyptic world around him, as he discovers the truth behind the events that shaped the new world, and is forced to make choices that can either save the world and return himself to his former glory, or doom the planet and its future.
