Highschool is rough, especially at a private Christian school. And even harder when you're a scene kid who loves metal, and an atheist. If you've been told never to change yourself to fit in, would you still tell a "freak" to change? Why are scene, goth or emo kids different? The truth is they aren't, you just won't take the time to understand. Follow the freshman year of a hard-core 14 year old girl with catholic parents, and her 18 year old brother who gets all the attention.

Seventeen years old Sam Adams doesn't do well with people. He prefers staying home on the weekends and staying away from parties. He has only one friend- and that's his older sister, who is now off to college, leaving Sam to spend his days at home with his mom and his painting.
