Drake rejects Ellery as soon as he knows that she is his mate for reasons that are unknown to her and his wolf.
Ellery, still being the insecure teenage girl she is, assumed it was because she wasn't pretty enough or good enough for her Alpha mate and when she runs back home she comes across three rogues all of which got in unnoticed by the pack's guards until to late.
