Lacey Hillview loved horses and anything that had to do with them. That is until her horse accidentally stomps her knee and breaks it. Then to make her week worse her parents die in a car crash and she is sent to Alabama to live with her Best friend Jade because everything they had went to her older, scumbag brother. So she is sent to Jade's with nothing but the clothes on her back and her personal belongings. She is afraid to ride until she meets her neighbor Jett Aimsworth. He and Jade hate each other but Lacey finds herself oddly attracted to him. She hopelessly tries to change her feelings until she realizes its no use. Finally she gets back on a horse and she realizes that not every chain reaction is a bad one.

Ever since her first lesson at the ranch, she has been best friends with Erin, a horse loving girl and a star on the volleyball team. Her life is perfect, until her grandma starts showing signs of Alzheimer's disease, and her parents decide to move to Florida. She decides to run away with her favorite horse, Misty, in the middle of the night hoping to prove a point to her parents to let her bring Misty with them down south. She plans to return the next day but when tragedy strikes, she has to depend on Misty to lead her home and protect her.
