Casey Castello is your typical 7th Grade Punk. Black and purple hair, studded belts, spiky jewelry, ripped jeans riddled with safety pins, and a best friend that's a vampire.

Yep, that's right. A vampire. But Casey doesn't know that yet, of course.

Iris Crow is a sixteen year old member of the undead Underworld. She lives in the human world, trying to blend in, which is hard to do when your appetite requires the blood of a human. She tries to fly below the radar, and go unnoticed, but all of that changes when she meets Casey Castello.

Iris is drawn to the defiant girl for reasons she doesn't know. She has the overwhelming sense of needing to protect her, to make sure her heart keeps beating, a hard feat for a bloodsucking vampire. But Iris is determined to keep Casey alive, no matter the cost.
