To the average eye Kehlani King seemed to be your normal 19 year old girl that was two months fresh out of high school. When Kehlani's boyfriend leaves her at the stadium without a way home and a dead phone she finds herself in a car with Kyle Kuzma and his friends. Kehlani had always felt like she was in cage plunging into the darkness of the water but that night with Kyle she felt the cage temporary lift from the water and the lock on the cage doors open. He gave her something she had never felt before...freedom.

Pulling open the doors I let the warmth surround my body. Closing my eyes as I let out the breath I hadn't realized I was holding. The sound of basketballs hitting the ground in the gymnasium just a few steps away fills my ears, the comforting sound easing my mind. Pushing open the double doors my shoes squeak against the wooden floor, the doors close behind me and the basketballs, laughter and chatter come to a halt. The eyes of the team are on me as I walk across the court. And that's when I hear it. The most amazing laughter I've ever heard fills my head, my thoughts. And my eyes find her. Her long brown hair shines in the light of the gym. Her smile brightens up everything around her. My gosh, she's beautiful.
