It was then, when she said those horrible words, that I finally obliged to what my mind told me.

"Build a shield around that damn heart, lock it, and throw the key away."

Sure, I was never really that happy - but it was so much better than being miserable. One of the greatest benefits being the fear that my new attitude brought. Because everyone knows not to mess with Genevieve Rogers, she'll break your wrist or something. Even the new kids knew that.

Sadly my reign of terror came to an end after a couple years or so. All because of this girl.

And I don't know if it hit her in the head or something, but I just hate that she found that damn key.

"Fuck." He whispers into my neck, sending a thrill of excitement through my body. His lips still smothered kisses over my neck and his hands roamed my body, starting at my chest, going down to my stomach. Caressing my soft skin, his thumb trailed circles on my groin before slightly slipping into the waistband of my jeans. My breath catches in my throat as I pull at the hoodie that covered his chiselled body. Understanding, Jacob pulls it off in one swift movement before attaching his lips back on my neck. Sucking and biting it before flicking his tongue over the sore spot. A quiet moan leaves my mouth and I clasp my hand over it, denying any noise to escape. "You drive me fucking crazy, Aria." ---------------------------- Aria Bailey finds it hard to fit in. Her parents are always busy and never have time for her. #1 Teen Fiction | #1 Young Adult | #1 Romance "We all need someone to drive us mad." - The Wombats. He stared arrogantly down at me, a smirk plastered across his face. I sneered up at him with distaste, wanting to wrap my fingers around his neck and strangle that smirk off of him. He brushed my golden hair from my face, his long, slender fingers sparking electricity in my skin, making my knees wobble together. "Will you ever, forgive me?" he whispered huskily, his eyes intently staring into mine. His face was only mere inches from me. I just needed to reach out a little further to kiss him... "Yeah. Over my dead body." I snapped, before throwing my arms out forcefully, shoving my hands into his chest, pushing him from me. -*-*-*- He, is Carter Williams. I, am Lacey Adams. We were once, inseparable. The 'Golden Couple'. The unbreakable best friends, that everybody envied. Nothing could get between us. A part from being tighter than white on rice, we updated our status from friends to being in a relationship, frequently. We were neighbours, which meant our families were all close and even co-owned houses around our town. This, all is, until the day of my sixteenth birthday. Everything changed. The loving relationship we shared, was severed and torn apart. I couldn't hardly stand to look at him any more, without spitting fire that is. Every day is torture being around him. He was in all my classes at school and the window in my room was even directly aligned with his. So, what happens? My mother's mum gets sick, so dad and her fly out. Just them. Leaving me to stay with Carter and his parents, who are never home. We would be alone. In one house. Under the same roof. If I was insane before, I have no idea what I am now. © 2016 by LaurenJ22. "Sometimes the hardest thing in life is accepting that no matter what you do, you can't plan for everything to end accordantly. Sometimes, it's the mere fact of trying that causes things to unfold in the most unexpected ways. And sometimes, allowing one small change in your daily life can cause the biggest ripple effect. For me, the change in my daily routine came in form of a girl with purple eyes and black wings. Our first encounter, whether an answer to one of my many forgotten prayer, alternate my view of reality. Unbeknownst to me, Alexandra McCartney was a walking sin waiting to be forgiven, and I was the answer to her silent prayers." Fixtured with routines and habits, Skylar Charms has only even known one thing; nothing is permanent and everything is subject to change. It was a lesson she learned early on in life and because of it, she was contempt with finding familiarity in the inconsequential routines she established. For Skylar, she was okay with being simple because with simplicity comes a sense of innocence, something she couldn't find anywhere else in her new home town. What was meant to be a routine school year for Skylar toppled when she met Alexandra McCartney, who unlike her, found familiarity in the chaos of things. All it took, however, was one insignificant answer for a saint to meet a forgivable sinner. I smiled as I watched my closest friends be happy. That's all I've ever wanted, right? Make those around me happy, but it's hard sometimes. It's hard to watch those around you be happy when you can't manage to be happy yourself. But don't worry. It'll get better, right? That's what they say. Maybe they're right. I should just trust them. Trust. I have too much of that sometimes. I guess it's a bit of a price when you wear your heart on your sleeve. It gets knocked around pretty easily. It gets scratched and torn every now and then. My brother and sister, Aaron and Malissa, have always told me that I've always worn my heart on my sleeve. I may wear my heart on my sleeve, but I can't help but do whatever I can to protect it. Closing people out is usually the best way, but that's hard when you have kind heart. If there's any emotion I can hide, it's love. Well, at least I think so. I try, okay? Doesn't mean I'm good at it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello fellow potatoes! Fair warning: This story will have some depressing themes and possibly some triggers.
