Jem Anderson goes to her Grandmas every summer, has been ever since 4th grade. But this time it's different. Kile Frinco changed her life from the minute she laid her eyes on him. Towards the end of the summer, Jem experiences something that no one should ever experience. Her relationship with Kile strengthens each and every day after this tragic moment in Jem's life.
