Being a werecat means being part of a pride and being part of a pride means that you're taught from a young age that every werecat gets their mate at the age of seveteen. However, that proved to be untrue for Blue Adams when his mate didn't turn up on his birthday. As the years go by he slowly loses hope, so he moves to away from home, not being able to handle seeing his siblings with their mates.

Now, at the age of twenty-two, he's living in a tiny house in the woods, isolated from everything and everyone. He's become cold and bitter and he's given up on the one thing he's waited for, for so long.

Storm Blake too has given up all hope at finding his mate at the age of twenty-four. He'd be in same condition Blue is in if it weren't for the big fact that he's the dominant male of his pride. He's worked too hard to keep his pride safe to just to give up over a mate.

When he finally does come across his tiny, bitter mate in his isolated home, he's shocked when he wants nothing to do with him. He's finally found his happiness and he'll be damned if he lets his kitten slip right out of his hands. Doing the only thing he can think of, he knocks him out and takes his mate home with him.

Lets just say Blue was not happy when he woke up.
