This is what I think the mortal instruments should be like.
Clary grows up with her Mother Joyclyn and her stepfather Luke. He's not really her stepfather they are just as close.
At the age of 4 she gets kidnapped by her own father Valentine. She lives with her brother Johnathon too. They are very close like very. At the age of 10 she she started going to an institute with a boy named Jace and twins Alec and Isabelle. They all grew very close. At home Clary and Sebastian started to get abused by their father. Clary never told anyone but she hid her bruises by runes. So no one ever knew.
Clary finally couldn't take it anymore and erased Jaces' Alecs' and Izzys' memory of her.
She went back to Joyclyn and Luke and found a new bestie Simon. A couple years later Sebastian came to visit and stayed there. When Clary turned 18 she went to a dance club called Pandemonium and saw Jace Alec and Izzy. The sad part was they didn't recognize her. They were killing a demon and she started to help out. They were confused.... she knew why but it still hurt her.

Nephilim Love
The Angel Raziel punished Clary for creating another rune after she was forbidden to do so. In order to kill her brother, Jonathan, and save the world from his wrath, she had to create a rune. The punishment was that she would lose all her memories of the Shadow World, of her family and friends, but most of all, of her Jace. When she said goodbye to her brother in Toronto and laid him to rest, her first rune disappears, her angelic rune. She does not tell anyone because it is Alec's wedding and she does not want to ruin it. At the reception, Jace takes Clary to the dance floor and starts with a speech that sounds like he is ready to propose to Clary, so she interrupts him by telling him how much she loves him, and after she passionately kisses him, says she needs to get air and leaves him standing on the dance floor. Jace stands there looking at her, feeling that something is off with Clary, and says "I love you too." after her. He decides to look in their room for her and finds a letter telling him of the punishment that the angels gave her, and that she would no longer have her memories of him, but that she would always love him. He falls to the floor and screams out because he has lost her again. He vows that he will love her from afar and will always protect her. What happens when and If Clary regains her memories? Memories Are All She Has
This happens after the city of heavenly fire.(In the Mortal Instruments series) She walks in gracefully and says with so much venom, that I flinch, "Sit down and listen." I obey, sensing a very wrong and dangerous vibe from her. She continues, "I am Ms. Smith but you will call me madam." I reply, "And I am Clar-" "I know who you are if not why would I have summoned that demon to kidnap you," she interrupts, glaring at me. I am shocked, why would this lady kidnap me. I am completely perplexed. She must have seen it on my face because she says, "You killed Jonathan Morgenstern when all he did was love you. I HATE YOU. If you weren't there he would have loved me. Now I will take your loved ones away from you." I am just about to reply when she sends electrifying green sparks towards me which make me lose consciousness. When I finally up she says, "I have cursed you. When you leave this house it will be the day of your sixteenth birthday again but this time Simon won't remember you and neither will your other friends especially your lover, Jace. If you get close to them then they will all die after a year. No other warlock can reverse this spell." Clary gets cursed one night by a certain vengeful warlock.
