What if your best friend wasn't who you thought she was? Or....what if it wasn't her at all?

Maxine (aka Max) Tolksen is an anti-social, rude, lonely girl that lives by herself in New Castle Town, New York. Her best friend, Rowan Greene, moved to Australia three years ago. Finally, it's Max's junior year of high school and she has good enough grades to drop out of school and a lot of money from her internship to move to Australia. The only set-back is that when she gets there, Rowan isn't there. Apparently, Rowan went missing three years ago.
