Marinette Dupain-Cheng is tired of the prim and proper lifestyle her boarding school, Agreste Academy of Dance, pushes onto their elite students. Strict teachers, endless hours of ballet (the school's main focus), and snobby, mean classmates that suspect any students with less wealth than them, of cheating their way into the program.
In the daytime, she's just Marinette. A normal girl, with a demanding dance schedule, and the usual social drama. But at night, when the curfew calls them into their dorm rooms and barricades the exits with school rules, she dons her alter ego, Ladybug, a legend among the street dancers as the best break dancer in their midst.
