Lost, not knowing where to go, or where his path led, he walked. For his age, none of what he did or said should've been possible, for he was merely a year old. In his time at least. See, he's a lava creeper. They mature 6 times slower than humans, and the humans believed him to be a six year old. 

Not yet knowing his purpose, or even if he had one in the first place, he watched humans from his meadow, trying to learn from them and grow literal that way. By the time he learned the English language fluently enough to speak clearly, he had already learned to write left handed by watching a left handed merchant. Without him realizing it though, the King's son and his friends had watched the little creeper, trying to figure out what he was doing every day.

By the time he was literate and could write, his mother forbade him from leaving home. She disliked the humans greatly, and wished her son would not go near them. He stayed home a while, but got restless quickly, and slipped out. He watched the humans again, and was caught...
