Dean Winchester is a high school senior who never pays attention in class and is on the football team. He feels like he can never get his father's approval. He loves his brother and his struggling with a crisis of identity when he meets his new tutor. 

Sam Winchester is Dean's younger brother and is in his first year at high school. For him it is a breeze and he is always the one who gets the praise. He gets tired of his brother's teasing but loves him anyway. He is struggling with the fact that his family may be falling apart.... His new found dreams start to trouble him and develop into bigger fears. 

Castiel Novak is a senior as well and doesn't get along very well with people. He tries to stay out of trouble but is a constant target for the football team. When he is assigned as a tutor he wants to become closer friends with his new pupil but doesn't know how.
