"I don't know what's real anymore, it's like my mind is playing tricks on me. I start on my list and then everything runs together." Katniss stares at Dr. Aurelias and he nods his head.
"Let me hear." He scribbles something in his notebook and she inwardly groans.
"My name is Katniss Everdeen, I'm eighteen years old, I'm from district twelve.." She struggles to finish.
"Katniss, repeat after me. My name is Katniss Everdeen, I'm eighteen years old, I'm from district twelve, I was the Mockingjay, I am a mom, and Peeta Mellark is dead."
"No," She whispers. "He can't be dead."
But is he?

The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination.
