Marinette was working on her Ladybug Couture fashion line, minding her own buisness. That's when she heard a crash. "Woah! What just happened!?" She went to the source of the sound to find a Chat Noir in a downward facing 'cat' pose.
"Hello, Princess. Nice landing?" He laughed nervously at the chaos he caused. Marinette looked up to find a window broken. "Chat! What did you do again!?" She asked angrily. "Well, didn't you know there was an Akuma attack?" He asked shocked.
Marinette felt pure shock that she let herself be caught up so much in her thoughts that she missed an Akuma attack. "You need to go back up to your room. I don't want you to get hurt." Worry was etched in Chat's features.

Chat Noir's identity has been revealed in the worst possible way imaginable - In front of a nation-wide broadcast crew while facing an Akuma. His life is shaken dramatically, nothing can be the same again, and there is only one source of stability for both Adrien Agreste and Chat Noir now. The cold night air made Marinette shiver and cuddle into the red scarf that wrapped around her neck. She looked at the bright lights of Paris, of her city. A city of love. A city of light and happiness. Yet she had none. She clenched the charm Adrien had given her what felt like so long ago. He was all that was left. Everyone had left her. Her parents were disappointed in her. Her friends were angry. She heard the flapping wings of an Akuma and closed her eyes. She didn't try to stop it from taking over the charm in her hand, dark energy spreading through the trinket as his voice calmly entered her mind. As she uttered the words she was sure she would never say, she held the lucky charm close and listened to her thoughts as she lost control. Adrien and Chat. Adrien and Chat. That was all that was left. And then Marinette Dupan Cheng fell- no, she flew- off the edge of the Eiffel Tower to reveal her akumatized form. It all came in a rush that surprised even Hawkmoth because at that moment she felt every negative emotion, everything she was ever angry about came through her mind, powering her body. "Lila! Where am I?! What's going on?!" "Ladybug, or should I say, Marinette. I'm here to teach you that being on Hawk Moth's side is the best side to be on. He's the good guy. He can help you, and me!" "But I don't need help!" Marinette yelled, realizing that she was tied up. "Hawk Moth is the bad guy, believe it or not!" "Oh Marinette, I knew you would say something like that," Lila chuckled. "Which is why I'm here to change you." "What are you going to do?!" "Oh Marinette. If I told you, in less than a few hours, you wouldn't even remember," Lila laughed. "What... What does that mean?!" "Just sit and relax. I'm here to change you!" ----- When Lila captures Ladybug and tramples with her memory, Marinette is left to think that Lila and Hawk Moth are the good guy. She's filled with lies, but she doesn't know that. Adrien/Chat Noir refuses to give up on changing Marinette back the way she was. Even if it means he has to give up his life for her...
