I glared at the happy family walking away from the Phenix Drop Carnival's cotton candy stand, a big frown pasted on my face. Not bothering to look up at my next boring old customer, I said flatly, "Whatda ya want?" It's not that I had anything against this person, in fact I didn't even know who they were , but the thing was, I don't have emotions. After all the ways my father and brother hurt me with them, I just decided to stop having them. I know what your thinking. No happiness? No sadness? NO LOVE?!?! Nope. Not the slightest bit. I told you, I just block them out. "One purple cotton candy!" a chirpy voice answered. My ears ached from her cheerfulness. I ran my hands through my shaggy blond hair, and looked up quickly to grab a sick out of the pink bowl that held cotton candy bases, but what, or rather, who, I saw in front of me took my breath away. My name is Gorroth Ro'meave, and my life is about to change forever.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
