I jolt upright in bed, as fast as light. Thoughts from just moments ago race through my head like a swarm of angry bees. I gasped for air trying to calm myself down while wiping tears from my cheeks. The fact that my room is the darkest in the house didn't help. It's just a dream. I told myself. Or, at least, that's what I tried to tell myself because we all know, that these, aren't just dreams.

The Story of Midnight
"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?Terminé

He was standing there looking like a Greek god while I was sitting on my bed with a messy bun on my head and a tub of ice-cream, looking like a homeless person. I was staring at him as if he was the 8th wonder of the world. "Wait a minute, you are ...y-you.." "Yes, I am " This is not a prologue. Feeling ensnared, I made a pivotal decision to extricate myself from the tumult, severing ties with everyone in a dramatic departure. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, it did...All I remember is running from something in the woods. Everything went black. I suddenly woke up in a bedroom that clearly isn't mine. It started when the rain fell. As it hit the windows rhythmically, I fought my sleep. Fighting off the demons in my dreams. I hadn't realized how real that dream became. Waking up to terrified screaming. My heart racing, the lighting striking and my family begging for their lives. I claimed myself as a coward that very same night. I hated myself. The bedroom holds sacred territory for me. The bed, its altar. One upon which I've offered sacrifices, so many to count and recall.
