Flipping over the paper to see who had given it to me, I saw that nothing was there. No name, no type of signature at all. Shrugging, I picked up the box excitedly. I'd never had a surprise before that was wrapped up like this.
I slowly took the bow off and gently slid my fingers against the outside of the box. It was so pretty. Sitting down on my bed with the box happily in my palm, I opened it. To my surprise was the most beautiful emerald necklace I had ever seen or even imagined in my entire life. Walking over to my mirror, I held it up to my neck and tilted my head to the side so I could see what it would look like on. I was mesmerized by how ordinary I felt with this piece of art. Something told me to wear it tonight, and I would.

In a world dominated by werewolves, Odette leads a simple, human life until what was supposed to be the best day of her life, her wedding day, takes a nightmarish turn. Luca, a powerful world-leader and Alpha, claims her as his mate, which forces her into a desperate fight for her freedom. Now on the run, Odette encounters challenges that will test her wit and strength. Will she surrender to the relentless pursuit, or fight back? ~~~ I round the corner to see a group of freakishly-tall and handsome men. There were three men in the group, one instantly stood out to me even with his back toward me. He had deep black hair and I could tell strong lean muscles were hidden beneath his button-up shirt. I falter in my steps a bit, something in my mind telling me to go another way, to ask someone else for help with directions. But I keep walking closer. Something else within me tells me it will be okay. As I get closer, the two men who were facing my direction look towards me and I stop, keeping a safe distance. Hopefully they are able to help me, and not turn me away just because I'm a human. "Hi, um, could you tell me where the front desk is?" The man whose back was facing towards me stiffened. "I think I'm a little..." The man turned toward me so quickly it made my heartbeat waver. His deep blue eyes pierced into my brown ones and called out to me. His jawline was chiseled to perfection, lips parted slightly in awe. Every feature of his face was meticulously handcrafted by God. I never thought I could find a wolf so elegant. He was...beautiful. Something in the air shifted. I could feel it in my bones. "...lost," I finished my sentence after a brief pause. No one answered me. Did I say something wrong? I look between the three of them and see that the two men behind the man who was staring so intently at me were looking between me and him. "Mate."

Book #4 in the "Bloodlines & Ashes" series (Can be read as a standalone) I had a plan: Go to college, have lots of sex, and eventually become a doctor. Simple, right? Yeah, well, that was the idea until a family secret came out and flipped my whole world upside down. Fast forward to an accident and a kidney transplant later; I'm left wondering who the hell I even am anymore. That's when she came tumbling into my life. A red-haired stranger on the hospital rooftop, barging into my existential crisis, dragging me-literally-away from the edge. (For the record, I wasn't going to jump. Probably.) She's beautiful, fiery, and...insanely frustrating. She refused to tell me her name, declared my parents must be gay, and walked away like she didn't just turn my entire world upside down. Sounds like the start of a great love story, doesn't it? Here's the problem: she doesn't think so. She's immune to my charm, dismisses me as some campus jock, and seems entirely uninterested in giving me the time of day. Naturally, her rejection only makes me more determined to prove her wrong. Enter the deal: tutoring sessions, gingerbread lattes, and endless chances to show her that I'm more than just a guy with good hair and charm. Her story? I need to know it.
Her trust? I'll earn it. But the closer I get, the more I realize I'm in way over my head. Because, like they say, too much ginger can give you heartburn-and my heart? It's already hanging by a thread.

As I stare at myself in the mirror, I don't even recognize the reflection. I'm a married woman, and I can't get over that. I'm only wearing red lace underwear at the moment. I wear sexy panties and bras now because I have someone who's seeing them every day other than myself. Does he wear special boxers...? I'm not ready to think about Silas that way yet. It is still too weird. I am a little surprised that I haven't had a meltdown yet. I've never had a panic attack before, but my life has been turned upside-down. I have a pretty damn good excuse to have one. Everyone is probably expecting that I will. They may even be surprised that I haven't yet. Eight years erased... Eight years to learn... I stare at my reflection in the mirror. I'm still me... just older. I rub lotion into my face, examining it closely. Still me. Same blue eyes. Same shallow dimples in my cheeks. Same lips that cover straight teeth that my parents paid a lot of money for. I step back and take in my body. A little curvier then I remember, but not by much. I guess with marriage comes comfort weight. My hair is the same blonde, just longer. How odd to have everything the same... yet so different. Completed July of 2019
