Séan McLoughlin, commonly known as Jack, is the son of the prestigious Alec McLoughlin, president of the Landshark corporation. They specialize in DNA science and creating clones, as well as genetically altering existing animals. Their work has gained them many supporters...and many enemies.
Jack is constantly in danger. As heir to the company, he has to stay alive now, as Alec's health is failing him. Constantly plagued by assassins, protesters, and occasionally just drunk men with guns, Jack spends most of his days inside hiding from the world.
Then Alec hired a bodyguard. Mark Fischbach. Experienced in almost every field imaginable, he is the perfect bodyguard for timid little Jack.
Except nobody expected Jack to open up to him. Nobody thought he'd want Mark to hang around. Nobody thought he'd want him to stay as more than just a shield.
"Protect him with your life."
That sentence meant something different five months after it was said.
