Mahealani Kapule is a surfboarder who lives on the Hawaiian island Kauai and has no intention of leaving. Unfortunately, she has to move to California for her mother's new job as a baker. At first, Mahealani only copes in California by competing in surfing tournaments, but soon she discovers that everything is not as it seems. Her new-found friends, her enemies, even her family - they all have secrets. And Mahealani is not afraid to find them out.
