Lily Wodniak is the daughter of a polish immigrant shopkeeper in 1870's Chicago, but she not like other girls of her neighborhood nor does she relate well to those girls. The one problem with the Polish neighborhoods of Chicago is that they are ruled by a ruthless political machine known as the City King, ruled by the King of Thieves. When the lackeys of the "King" enters Lily's father's store while Lily was helping him one day looking for a tribute, Lily decides to stand up to the gang of brutes. She and the gang fight.
