On the year 2563, 509 years after the Parousia, people with extrasensory powers already existed. Mankind has called these people, the Gifted. And with the powers of some Gifted, they successfully erected barriers in all of the major cities in the world to protect the normal mankind from the Remnants. In a prestigious academy named the Xerxes Academy for the Greater Gifted located in what is now called Xerxes (formerly Tokyo,Japan), there studied an overpowered student, Loki Shinato, and his little sister, Rika Shinato. The academy existed for one purpose, to slay the Remnants and liberate their souls. Unknown to them, the siblings are the reincarnations of two of the members of Spectrum, the legendary institution that saved mankind from the Parousia, or the second coming of the Lord, 509 years ago.

The rest of humanity then began hunting down the 52 card users with extreme violence, but since a card would randomly pass to another person in the world, they began imprisoning them. Years past, now in modern-day, a boy hurt and scared because of the hunt for the card wielders, blames the gods and so the Devil bestowed upon him their card. Among the ordinary or those who do have the ability to be a hero still exist the exceptional few who influence the world their own way. This lead to the creation of the nano-machines called Nanites. They were made with the intent of saving mankind by eliminating diseases, ending world hunger and possibly extending a human's lifespan.
