In Desmia it was not unusual to get married at an early age. In fact, if you weren't, you were most likely frowned upon until you found your soulmate. Finding a soul mate used to be the hardest thing in the world, but now with ground breaking technology Desmia finds you your soulmate when you turn ten years of age.

On your tenth birthday, you are taken to The Brain Search, which like the name, is where the professors search your brain. Then professors then study what you like and dislike and then find someone just like you and then BAM! Instant soul mates. After they pair you up with your soulmate with the exact same likes and dislikes as you, they make you drink a drink called "SM" which allows the person you are paired up with to see what you write on yourself and let's what you write on yourself be copied onto your body. Only one rule: No writing words. The Professors wanted it to be a chase for love, the more the mystery, the more connection. There would be no mystery if you could just tell your soul mate where you were, therefore if you do, you and your soulmate will be separated, and you will be bound to sadness and loneliness for the rest of your life.

Sage is fourteen and is desperate for her soul mate to reveal them-self or at least draw something. It has been four years since she has drank the SM and no sign from her soul mate. All of her friends have their soul mates' drawings all on their arms. The more, the better according to society, and Sage hasn't gotten one. Her parents are worried and so are her friends. Until one day when she feels a tickling on her ankle and she realizes that her soul mate is there, and she is ready to find them.
