The entire uncorrected review copy of "The Other Mother" will be serialized and released free through Wattpad. The family we are born to is not always the family we need. Sometimes it takes a complete stranger to show us who we are meant to be. For Teresa Bruce, that stranger was Byrne Miller. As a young TV reporter, Teresa interviewed the 82-year-old modern dance pioneer as she was fighting to prolong the life of her husband of 60 years. Byrne took one look at Teresa’s turned-out dancer’s hip and adopted her into her family of “collected children.” As Byrne struggled to save her husband, Teresa became immersed in their bohemian fairytale, a story that began in the Great Depression and danced its way across the vaudeville stage down Madison Avenue to a tree house in Connecticut, an island in the Bahamas and, finally, to sleepy Beaufort, South Carolina. The love Teresa witnessed between Byrne and Duncan was worlds apart from her broken romance with an angry surfer from Mexico or her parents’ troubled marriage. Byrne became Teresa’s wise, supportive other mother. “When what is painful can’t be fixed,” Byrne said, “close the door behind you and walk into another room.” When Teresa walked into another room she discovered what it means to create her own happily ever after. The Other Mother is the compelling, true story of one woman who found the family she needed. It is a must read for anyone who has ever needed, or cherished, the love of an other mother. I always thought that the streets were a place that I was going to end up at. I always thought that I would end up dead on the streets because of... my disability. I always thought that I would have no family and no one to care about me as I cared for others. And yet, that all changed when she walked into my life. She brought me a family, and to this day, I could not understand why she chose me and not someone else. Not only did she walk into my life, but she also changed it. She changed it for better or worse, and I could not decide which was possible because she and her family were different. They were something much more than what people could see. And I was different. Not only was I blind, but I was also a Princess. I was a princess of this strange group, and I had been hidden away from birth. At the time, I did not know who I was being hidden from, but when I found out who I was hiding from, I was glad that I had been hidden. Because, if I surely had not been hidden, then I would surely have died. _______________________________________ NOTE: IF YOU READ THIS BOOK ON ANY OTHER APP BESIDES WATTPAD THEN IT IS COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.
