Maya Hart is now seventeen and is with her best friends uncle, Josh Matthews. After only six months of being together Maya realizes she's pregnant, but not with Josh's child, but with Lucas's. And, after receiving a special offer from a anonymous person she travels to New York for the first time in five years and has to uncover the past that she didn't want to return to.

Riley Matthews has tried non-stop to find her best friend since she found the note on the bay window. She had kept her promise and told her family all she was allowed to, that Maya had ran away, and she wasn't coming back for a long time. So, like a good friend she kept the secret that her friend had fallen pregnant, because if she told them, there wouldn't only be disappointment, there would be questions to who the father is, and she wouldn't be able to say, because even she doesn't know.
