River stumbles upon the quiet town of Crescent Valley, a largely mundane, quaint place of old bookstores and pleasant cafés and peaceful nature walks. He also, through no fault of his own, stumbles onto a gruesome murder scene. Body torn apart, blood still warm, an odd symbol carved into the man's bare, scratched chest. He recognises the signs. Thinking of his hard-won freedom and desperate for peace, River vows to himself- one last job. So he sets out on a mission to find the killer and put an end to them, if only so he can sleep without feeling the cool handle of a silver knife in his paranoid grip.
River soon becomes entangled in a feud between rival werewolf packs clawing for territory, and the alpha of the Crescent Moon pack, Rowan, is getting a little too close for comfort.
