All fairy tales are supposed to end happily ever after, no? What if they were just lies? The truths behind those tales could be as black as the night for all you know. Maybe you think I'm just a skeptic, a hardened old man who just doesn't see the magic anymore. Well, you'd be right on both accounts. Don't let me dampen your love of stories and how the world works. But for those of you who seek the truth and want to know more, I invite you to listen to my tale. For I was there when that awful woman Lady Tremaine took control of my former lord's manor. I saw the depths of evil that lived inside her. And most importantly, I saw the girl you call Cinderella change from beloved daughter to fierce warrior. Like Rapunzel, but Not Really ✔
Living a life out of a fairytale story is really not as it is cut out to be. I mean, Cinderella had to clean up a whole mansion by herself every day. Belle had to put up with a housemate who needed a shaver as much as he needed anger management classes. And don't even let me get started with Snow White and her stepmom's drama. Really, Rapunzel of the 21st century? I would rather be a tree. Sweet Dreams: A Modern Fairytale
This is inspired by a writing project I supervised when I worked with an elementary student. This writing project was a group project to make their own spin on a fairy tale assigned to the group. It had to have all the main points of their fairy tale, start and and with the common phrases of a fairy tale, and it had to have their own creative spin. My student did Cinderella, and it was so fun to work with him and his group, I wanted to make my own. Our dear Cinderella loves to bake, but she's not exactly looking for love when an opportunity to make a name for herself comes up. As for Prince Charming, he is looking for love, just not in the usual fairy tale fashion. And as usual, there's some extra mischief from the step family, royal family, and fairy godmother.
