Michael Little hasn't lived a normal life since he was 11. First he was taken out of his home because his father was abusive and an alcoholic, and his single mother always traveling for her job, then at 12 he has to leave his foster family because they got pregnant with triplets, and could barley even take care of him. Then, not long before he became 15, he turned into a dad.
While walking around after school one day, he heard crying, and soon stumbled across a little baby girl in an alleyway. Not sure what to do, he took her home and took care of her. Already having his own apartment that he shares with his mother when she is home, he finds a job and takes care of the baby the best he can.
Now, he's 19 and his daughter is turning 6, he has more struggles in his life. Missing so much school he was held back 2 years, being picked on cause people believe he got a woman pregnant that young, and having to work nights and managing his life and his daughters life in the mornings. But someone finally believes him and his story of how he got Annabelle, and helps him get through the struggles. Taking care of her while his at work, helping him get through classes, and much more.

This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room. Slowly the two begin to fall in love and Mariah tells him her story, and of the hidden danger that lies up the street from him. This is a story about Abbie's journey to self-discovery, to learn what love and care truly mean. Being a teenager is not easy nor is peeling off layers of masks, especially when you have them on for so long. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either.
