After a lecture Alan Grant and Clarissa Malcolm did together, they were approached by a man offering to fund Grant's research if he gave him and his wife an illegal aerial tour of Isla Sorna. Upon telling Ian about what was going on, Ian was very against the idea, knowing that something might go wrong. Clarissa assured her husband that nothing would go wrong and it was a quick flight tour and no ground activity. Ian agreed and told her to contact him if something happened and he would immediately call their son to go get her. "No way in hell am I letting you do this, Clare." "It's just a plane. He takes them to an island, where a park is at. On the way there, they also meet a group of young people, who also have a taste of journeys, and might have some connections to the card.
