As far as the government was concerned, Cass Cahill didn't exist. She had no birth certificate, no social security number, no official records of any kind before she entered the foster system.

But she was very real. Her straight A's and perfect attendance record (in detention), her stunning smile, and of course, sharp-tongued sass.

And the threat to national- even international- security? Thousands of lives at risk? Those were real as well. Somehow, Cass was inextricably bound up in the entire affair; somehow she was deeply connected to the strange and very insane boy behind all of it. Suddenly, the government that had erased Cass needed her help desperately.

So when it all came crashing down on her, Cass began to question everything about her short and mysterious life. And if the government wanted her help so badly, they were going to have to answer those questions.

Cass Cahill was very real. This is her story.
