Two cousins are spending the summer at a bach in an isolated part of Waiheke Island, a short ferry trip from New Zealand's largest city. Their guardian, Dan’s uncle and Adrian’s father, has to work, so the teenagers are left to their own devices.

Their notorious Waiheke neighbour Whitlock is back in residence after a long, unexplained absence and Adrian is convinced the man is up to no good. Dan is struggling with his own issues after nearly drowning 18 months ago. Meanwhile both boys are crushing on their beautiful new American friend Katie who is also staying on the island.

The beaches and water are idyllic but there are major unseen problems. As the mysteries deepen Adrian’s tunnel vision threatens to ruin the holiday and put their lives in danger.
