I live in a pretty screwed up world.
I mean, we all do, but mine's a little more screwed up than your average American city.
First off, I have that cliché sort of crush on my best friend. The second part of that cliché is that he's interested in every other girl but me.
Second, we have superheroes. A lot of them. Flying everywhere like annoying insects, teleporting like it doesn't scare the crap out of the rest of us, defeating bad guys like they're the new Mr. Incredible. The whole works.
The third thing is, I'm one of those superheroes.
My name is Kiera Knight, but the rest of the world knows me as Shadow.

Kiera Knight has been saving Cryptic City from her nemesis, Blaze, for two years now. As soon as she thinks she's got him under control, the wildfire spreads chaos through both of her lives-as Shadow and Kiera. But she soon finds out that masks can't hide every secret, and she might have been helping guard a secret that could put Cryptic City in ruins.

"I hate supervillains. But after being a superhero, I think I'd prefer to be a supervillain now."

(I seriously didn't even think of Keira Knightley when I made up her name. Just thought I'd let you know.)

Cut Up Girl is the world's most famous superhero for all the wrong reasons. Her true identity as Valentine Summers has been exposed and her out-of-control personal life makes her the punchline for every late night comic. She wants to put her old life as a vigilante behind her, but when her greatest supervillain escapes prison she has to suit up again to recapture him. Even if she vanquishes the villain, will the dark secrets of her old life destroy her? Author notes: If you're a comic book nerd, you might know that there's a Legion of Superheroes reject called Arm Fall Off Boy. His powers are exactly what his name implies. He can pop off an arm and use it as a club. Anyone can write a story in which Superman is a hero. My goal was to write a story in which you root for Arm Fall Off Boy, where he finds the courage to stand before the world's greatest heroes and say, "You need me." That said, Cut Up Girl doesn't have the power to pop off an arm and use it as a club. That would be absurd. Instead, she can chop off an arm and have it instantly turn into a clone. Also, her arm grows back. Oh, and the clones explode. Plausibility is everything to me. Finally, I suppose I should issue a "trigger warning." This book has a lot of sexual content, though it's not a work of erotica. I wanted to look at the reality that sex sometimes addicts two people into a relationship that turns into mutual self destruction. There are dark scenes of emotional abuse, along with some plain old alcohol abuse. It's a story of a life that becomes a train wreck. It's a story about climbing out of that wreckage and beating up bad guys with your exploding clones until you feel better. Arm Fall Off Boy, this one's for you.
The Iron Guardian (A Human x Anthro Superhero Story) by arm0da
5 parts Ongoing Mature
A 22-year-old human boy builds a suit of armor, testing it only to inadvertently cause himself to escape the Earth's atmosphere, drifting off into a deep cryonic sleep, after tens of thousands of days in this frozen state. Then, after what feels like a long time drifting in space, he wakes up, entering a planet, believing he is re-entering Earth's atmosphere. However, when he lands roughly on the dunes of a beach, he realizes that the world he has entered is not Earth at all, but a society filled with anthropomorphic beings. Thinking this might be the only thing that exists, he is soon confronted with an attack in their city, where they are saved by superheroes who happen to be anthropomorphic creatures with superpowers, adorned in costumes that symbolize themselves. It seems unbelievable that they are real. In my world back on Earth, they were fictional and mythical icons found in comic books, movies, and TV shows. After rescuing a superhero from an encounter with a monstrous reptile-like creature in the city, he retreats to the woods. He hides for about a year, living and trying to gather as much knowledge as he can about this new world and the superheroes it contains. He believes he is living an easy life, away from the foreign society. But after saving a school bus filled with anthropomorphic kids from a disastrous fall, ensuring they would not be left behind, he is discovered again. However, at his long-awaited hiding spot, he was in the woods. He was greeted by an anthropomorphic tiger who happened to be the director of the superhero protection agency (SPA) and offered him a place in it.
This Is My Super-Life (Superman Reader) by WoffleStomp

(Catwoman x Superman Reader, Red Lantern OC x Supergirl.) Yet another superhero in a world that needs him the most! Superman is known by all for being the most vanilla superhero in the world, but... regardless of the instance, the Man of Steel still has a story to tell. In this case, you were sent from Krypton to Earth to avoid its collapse. After honing your strength under the Earth's yellow sun, you fought your adversaries for the sake of keeping this new home safe, to show your thanks. General Zod, a man responsible for the downfall of his home planet, was one of soon many who were made an example, showing everyone on Earth that this hero was here to stay. However, Superman would soon be called upon again to save the Earth from yet even more extraterrestrial threats. When a close friend (OC) of his accepts an invitation into the Red Lantern Corps from Gotham, chaos ensues, and his super-life will forever change. DISCLAIMER: This content is mature; you can expect the worst. There may potentially be violence, topics of cheating, and sexual content. This is written like a real book, (There might be some dumb stuff later in the book). Also, since this is my first DC story I've ever written. I am going to tell you right now that I am going to get stuff wrong and pull "canon" stuff out of my back pocket like a complete clown. You have been warned. P.S. This story MIGHT eventually be on AO3 and Royal Road under "WoffleStomp". This is a commissioned work.
Shadows and Secrets by RNYmoon

Chaos is mischievous and naughty, but she is also not the type of villain that targets random people and for no reason. She has her own morals but of course, the heroes in Nexus city are too high up their noses to even realise that. However, it does not bother Chaos too much as she is having fun messing those "big-nosed peacocks" as she called them, as her bonus missions. Now as Circe Starlan however, she was the complete opposite. A talented, sharp, observant and kind girl who ironically, works in the police force. She solves a lot of cases, catches a lot of normal criminals, and is even a well-liked woman among her peers and everyone who knows Circe. Especially with her blonde hair and blue eyes making her look like the typical angel described in stories. No wonder no one had ever connected Chaos and Circe as the same person, they're the complete opposite! Like any other villain, they always have a hero archnemesis. That's where Luminary came in. A superhero who is always there to stop Chaos' mischiefs and terrorising (because to be fair, not all of her attacks are a mere mischief. Some of them are actually life-threatening!). Luminary and Chaos had been in each other's butt, fighting and being pranked (Luminary that is). Chaos did not hate him; she was just annoyed at his constant interrupting. Although it does give her some entertainment sometimes. But what happens when a new hero who just transferred from Asteria city causes Chaos' whole lives to become unstable. It looks like they know each other...why does this new hero always look at Chaos with a sad look? Like he is grieving over a loss of someone? What happened?

"Stop pretending to be an idiot, idiot." Ouch. It burns. "You're starting to sound like a dear old friend of mine," she adds, her tone implying that her "friend" isn't so much of a "friend" as a mortal enemy who she probably also dragged into an alley on multiple occasions. Because she must be a fan of alley-dragging. Theater major. "I bet that friend was super amazing," I retort anyway. "She'd have to be to put up with you." Oh! Snap! I grin like an idiot at my own joke, realize how uncool that is, and then quickly rearrange my face into a frown. "I'm sorry. I don't quite understand. You're supposed to be a superhero, so why are you threatening a fellow superhero? Isn't that kind of against our code or whatever?" "You don't have a code. Superheroes who follow codes don't drop off information about people's allegedly dead sons at their doorsteps and then run." Well, can't say she doesn't have a point there. -- After being framed for the horrific murder of Birchwood City's most revered superhero's six year-old son, Maya Waterman abandons her super-villain persona and finds herself lost without any sense of identity and purpose. Being hunted by a vengeful super is hard enough, but after her employer fires her and she's evicted from her apartment, Maya begins to become something she had prayed she would never become again- helpless. She needs nothing less than a miracle to save herself, and much to her surprise, she gets just that-- even if it entails her trying her hand at becoming a good guy for once.
