The first chapters in the Blade Driver series. The world is ravaged by a war long past, those who survived where protected by large city wide barrier. This barrier was created by inventor Ethan Carne, who used the natural energy from the citizens to generate it. Only a few cities received these barriers before it was to late, the ones that did soon learned of its deadly consequences. The barrier, while initially the savior of those who survived, soon became a prison. The barrier wasn't able to be turned off manually after it went up, so the citizens where forced to live the next 60 years under the barrier. The next 60 years were filled with harsh environments, however a saving grace was created. The Driver Program began, humans with extraordinary levels of natural energy were brought in and trained to police the city. They where given special weapons, based on weapons of a time long passed. Shields, swords, hammers, all created and designed to use a Driver's natural energy to combat crime. However many of these early Drivers soon learned that going past their natural limits had horrible side effects, many died or suffered permanent nerve damage. Shortly after the fall of many Drivers, the barrier so many had grown accustomed to fell. As it lost power it began to crack, it then erupted outward scorching the area miles outside the city. In wake of the new world of opportunities presented to them, the Driver program looked outward and became the Colonial Driver program. The Drivers took the charge and began expanding humanities reach. Despite all that has changed, humanity is still the same. They fight, and they struggle, but they learn from this and they grow.

At first I thought I'd pick something a bit out of my comfort zone (so.... NOT SciFi for once...) to expand my horizon, but when I saw a prompt about time travel I was immediately inspired. Please keep in mind, all of this is WIP! The title, cover, and some of the content might change at any time... I have an outline and I worked hard to come up with a compelling and consistent story line, but due to the nature of the story (timey whimey stuff!) I might have to revise things a few times as I write. I'm grateful for any feedback and I hope you enjoy :)
