Its a short mono-myth i started in 9th grade. I decided to post it. Feel free to criticize all you want. Its very short and has been unchanged since my 9th grade year.
Since the day he was born, Roren knew he was different. His appearance made him stand out and he was stronger and smarter than most. On his 18th birthday an encounter in the woods would change his life forever.

Rise of Nightmare
Jake was just a normal teenage boy. Normal problems, normal friends, even a normal school bully. Until the dream. Jake has been having nightmares for several weeks now. Always very similar. It isn't until one night when he's sucked into the nightmare itself that His life will never be the same. ( I've been working on this for a really long time. If any readers or writers in the community want to give suggestions for edits. The first half of the story give or take was written a long time ago. So it may not follow the same writing style. I think the characters have evolved really well in the story and I'm excited for feedback. )مكتمِلة

Remi has always loved the forest, the different sounds, smells, the way she could get lost in it and never have to go home to her non-existent parents. She goes in and out of her life with her best friend everyday just waiting until they're both old enough to leave their small boring town. But one day Remi is attacked, and nearly killed, by a man in the forest. When she wakes up everything's different. She feels something inside her, a power, but she has no idea what happened to her. All she remembers is the man's strange yellow eyes. When three new boys show up at her school, one with yellow eyes, asking her question she gets nervous. And then one night while heading to go get her friend she's taken and thrown into a world she didn't know existed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Remi?" Jen says suddenly. "Hmm?" I hum back. "Do you ever wish you could just live in the forest? Away from everyone and everything?" She looks at me. "Free." We stare at each other for a long time. I see the real meaning in Jen's eyes. Her worries for going home to her overly strict parents. Her fears for the future and the unknown in general. "If we lived in the forest we wouldn't have gummy bears any more." I comment to lighten the mood. She doesn't find it funny. "I'm serious Remi! What if we did run away?" "Jen, we can't just run away. I know your parents are strict but I truly think they just want what's best for you." She says nothing. For a moment I fear she's mad at me but then she puts her head on my shoulder and I know we're okay.مكتمِلة

They could do things that MudWings shouldn't and no one could explain it. Or maybe they didn't care that these dragonets seemed stronger in daylight, or that their breath at times seemed toxic. They would find their own answers in this big world.

I'm different, I can read and see what people think. Every moment of everyday... it's not normal. I've been this way for too long. Ever since I saw my best friends dad die in front of my own two, once blue eyes. My now gold orbs, seeing the world for what it actually is.
