Sierra, Jaron, and Brook have always been friends. But when a new kid, Jason, comes, Sierra and her friends grow farther apart, and tensions just keep getting higher. After running away from an especially frustrating encounter with Jason, Sierra realizes that the island she lives on, Gardenia, is pulsing. Sierra takes a leap of faith, and tells her friends about her discovery. She and her friends soon realize that they have two choices. They could take their chances and tell The Council about Sierra's discovery, and possibly lose all of their close friends and family, but at the same time save everyone living on the island. Or, they could flee. Take themselves, and all who will believe them, and run. And never look back.
