Emma and her mother move to Orange County in California. Being the new girl again is far from what Emma wanted. She always has a hard time making friends because of her shyness. When Alisha, an outgoing, smart girl at Emma's new school starts talking to her, Emma starts coming out of her shyness. When she meets the mysterious Will Heywood, who is best friends with Alisha her life starts turning upside down. She did what she never thought would happen. She fell in love. But Will has a secret that only Alisha knows. When Emma starts getting suspicious of Will, he has no choice but to tell her. How will Emma take it? But most importantly, will Emma have to say goodbye?

At first she doesn't think she can until a beautiful grayish white mustang comes to her dad's farm, who Rose names later as Stardust. Rose finally realizes that she can do this alone, she's going to need help from her father to help her get back on and also have help from the new cute boy, Austin who's helping for his community service. At first he doesn't want to be there, but eventually finds a reason to stay. Rose has had a good life up until the day of the accident, but now she's got to face loss, and heartbreak, but she's got to learn to get back in the race.
