The Ethers

Serenity is a Vipera. A condemned Ether who was chosen from her people to endure a punishment sentenced on her people for the rest of her life. She's one of many in a long line of her ancestors to have to go through the pain caused by a crime committed long ago. But Serenity is different, she volunteered and she's lasting longer under the punishment than any Vipera did before her. So what does it mean when another Ether comes and tells her the punishment is over and she's released? Will she get to live a normal life? Will she get to see her family again?
