Small town girl Penelope Fitz Turner has had a hard life so far.

With her sexually abusive dad, being called a slut at school, and being in one of the poorest families in the town. 

You could say life couldn't get any worse. Oh but it did.

A vires spreads world wide affecting people, making them die, and come back to life again with the only instinct to eat anything that is moving and breathing.

Pen looses her mom soon into the craziness, and is alone with her best friend Troy Martens.

After a mess in the woods, they loose each other.

Pen finds herself alone in a cabin for a day, till a boy named Cole comes and finds her.

Then Cole teaches her how to fight the dead walking around, and tries to keep her safe. 

Pen gets the hang of it quickly and tries to keep him safe too.

With a world full of untrustworthy people, can pen find a way to trust again? Or will she find herself alone?
