Five years ago, Katherine Pierce had taken the risk of dating the school's notorious player, but she ended up falling in love too quick for her liking. Little did she know, that her boyfriend, Ash, had felt the same way. After finally telling each other, it seemed like he changed; he became that boy that every mother would love for her daughter to be with. Under certain circumstances, Ash was forced to break their relationship, but it wasn't without serious regret.

Now, Katherine is currently engaged to Jackson, her personal fitness trainer from her senior year of high school. She still has her best friend, Liz, and she introduces her to another friend, Ashton or AJ as they call him. Katherine knows better than to judge people by their name, just because your ex may have had it, so she gives the new guy a chance. Little did she know, that the resemblance and name wasn't much of a coincidence.
