Midnight Chatter The clock turns past the 12 yet again. Another Midnight seen and survived. I should probably be in bed, but am again suffering from one of the many side effects of too much caffeine - the inability to lay down and rest (As well as the slight nausea that tells me I shouldn't make yet another coffee). It doesn't help that the weather outside is muggy and preparing for a thunderstorm. I'll be happy when we have the lightning and thunder raging outside, but the days before are always horrible. Too hot. Impossible to get to sleep. And I can't find my book. I doubt that's an actual consequence of the weather or the coming thunderstorm. It would be pretty strange if Thor came through to prepare the storm and started nicking random books to read while he waited for it. I've never really thought Thor would have been much of a reader either. I might be wrong, he might take a guilty pleasure in wandering through the works of Voltaire or Nietzsche when he has some spare time in between lightning bolts. Unless maybe it was another Thundergod who is a reader... I'm trying to think of a Thundergod who might fit into that category. I can't offhand. I know Zeus threw the lightning bolts, (or Jupiter if you want to be Roman) but you don't really think of him as a Thundergod. That's more his sideline when he's not out cheating on Hera or ruling over the other Gods. He gets a bit bored, he wants to kill something, let's throw a lightning bolt. Yay!!! Anyway, I began writing to this and I had a purpose. Unfortunately, I got sidetracked into looking at a clock face and completely forgot what I was going to write about. It was fairly interesting though. Something to do with apples. Purple ones.

I'd Like to think I was a good person, before it all began. I didn't cheat on tests, or steal. But throughout my entire life, I was treated if I were a monster. At the age of five, after several agonizing tests, I was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder. But not even that title could describe just how strange I was. When another kid got hurt, I would cry. Whenever someone else was told a funny joke, I would laugh hysterically. People looked at me as if I were crazy- and for while I agreed with them. That was until I, Caddie Jones, was exiled to Nox Haven Academy, a school for truly special kids. Not the mentally ill, psychotic kind of special but the magical kind. Like witches, vampires, fairies and werewolves. Call me crazy if you want, you wouldn't be the first. But the stories are all true. The supernatural did exist and I was one of them. Life there was cool until suddenly, I was faced with two-faced witches, egotistical princes, hormone driven werewolves, and an army of evil warlocks who were threatening to destroy the world. ... Maybe Nox Haven was a school for psychos after all. ---------------------------------------------------------- Highest Rank: #2 in Paranormal 1st Place winner of The Night Shift's Killer Competition 4/10/16 Illustration by: Stephanie Pitino (www.ClairObscur.fr) (1st book in series)
